Old North State Club & Amenities
In the beautiful, unspoiled Uwharrie Mountains of central North Carolina, there is a place where the country crossroads of recreation and relaxation meet. The place is Uwharrie Point, an extraordinary residential community built on one of Mother Nature’s finest creations, a spectacular 950-acre peninsula, surrounded by pristine 5300-acre Badin Lake. It is the home of the renowned Old North State Club, a stunning 18-hole private golf course designed by Tom Fazio, and it includes a Swim, Tennis, and Fitness Center with 6 soft surface tennis courts, 2 swimming pools, an elegant eight-room lakefront lodge, full service Marina, and about 3 miles of hard surface trails for walking, jogging, or biking throughout the community. Golf
At the center of the Community is a superb Tom Fazio golf course, one of his best. Golf Digest and Golf Week have rated it among the top private courses in America. And for 13 consecutive years from 1997-2009, the North Carolina Golf Panel has ranked the Old North State Club as the second best course in the state of North Carolina, right behind famed Pinehurst Number 2. The NC Golf Panel is made up of a pre-eminent list of North Carolina golf experts, including golf writers, officials, coaches, course owners, etc.

In April of 2010, the Men’s ACC golf Championship will be held at the Old North State Club for the fourteenth time since 1995. Club members, many of whom volunteer to assist in the operation of the tournament, get to know these collegiate players and then enjoy following the successes of those who move on to professional golf.

Clubhouse & Golf Shop
The Old North State Clubhouse is the center of activity at the Club. It occupies a spectacular site overlooking the 18th hole with a two mile vista of across pristine Badin Lake. It includes a 110 seat main dining room with a sun porch, parlor bar with stone fireplace, spacious terrace patio and colonnade, outdoor area for large functions, men’s and women’s locker rooms with private lockers, a large special function room for meetings, activities, or private dining, and a men’s lounge.

The Golf Shop is nearby but separate from the Clubhouse. It includes the latest in golf equipment, golf clothing for men and women, and a friendly and highly competent Golf staff that can assist with any needs, including lessons to improve one’s game.

Swimming and Tennis
While The Old North State Club is renowned for its challenging golf, the other sporting facilities offered here are as highly regarded by those who have enjoyed them. With six carefully groomed and lit hard surface tennis courts, the Director of Tennis orchestrates ample opportunity for casual play, organized tournaments, tennis socials, exhibitions, and private or group instruction.

Two sparkling swimming pools in the Activities Center offer something for every member, whether swimming laps, slipping down the waterslide, or splashing in the baby pool.

Fitness opportunities are available indoors and out, with a variety of free-weights and cardio equipment, as well as a network of paved walking and biking trails that meander throughout the peninsula grounds. Kids of every age will enjoy a great selection of supervised activities, from parties and camps, to socials and special events that will create memories that will become the talk at school the next Monday or semester.

Marina
Boating enthusiasts keep the Old North State Club Marina and the Dockmaster’s house busy. Located on a cove in the north end of the Uwharrie Point peninsula, the full service marina is available to members of the Club and features wet slips and dry storage spaces to accommodate boats in a variety of sizes.

There’s a friendly, dependable Dockmaster and Marina staff on hand for assistance with launching and retrieving your boat, as well as cleaning it when you’re finished. The convenient ship’s store offers such boating necessities as fuel, ice, etc., as well as life preservers, vests, and a wide variety of boating accessories.

Wet slips can accommodate boats up to 30′ in length and 10′ feet wide. The Marina features 100 dry storage spaces and 50 wet slips, and there are two restrooms and an outdoor shower overlooking the sundeck.
